A wonderful thank you
This heartfelt note was written by a wonderful young guest who stayed with us. I kept it, meaning to post and I have just come across it again so wanted to share. It’s always the little things….
Dining out under the Stars
Our recent guests, Rene and Maya, drove over in their vintage Jaguar for 4 days of Goodwood Revival. What better way to end their visit than with a delicious barbecue and a few cold beers around the firepit? They loved it!
Happy Guests
Recent guests enjoying relaxing by the fire. They wrote such a lovely review, we had to post it here as well. Thank you Vince and Ali.
We stayed at The Nest for a couple of nights in September 2023, for a wedding at Rumbold’s Farm 15 minutes walk away. Very convenient! The Nest is a lovely place to stay and ticked all our boxes. Spotlessly clean, lovely fresh linen and a comfy bed, massive bath and a shower cubicle, and feels very much like a nest, cosily tucked away on the first floor of an annexe separate to the house. It has a warm atmosphere.
Sally and Steve are top hosts. Both charming and friendly but very professional. Steve’s chef training comes through in his delicious food. We ate dinner and breakfast outside in a little courtyard. Breakfast eggs kindly provided by the hens clucking and foraging around us -the other side of a wire fence. Delicious homegrown tomatoes on the plate. After our dinner we enjoyed the company of an affectionate cat in the light and heat of a flaming fire pit.
We will make The Nest our first choice of stay if we need to stay in the area again. And probably will even if we don’t need to!
Many thanks Sally and Steve for creating such a heavenly retreat and making us feel so welcome in our little home from home

Fed up with this weather? read on…
How can June have been so amazing and August so autumnal? This part of the country is still so beautiful, despite the rain. The landscape is green and lush, the village reflects the best of the countryside with small village shop, pub and village green and The Nest is ready and quietly waiting for you. Give us a call or find us on Airbnb. Jump in the car and treat yourself to a couple of nights in a beautifully appointed suite with freshly made breakfasts available and home-cooked evening meals for those who just want to chill in their own private garden surrounded by the sweet smell of dahlias and lilies. Come and give the barbecue a try, surely we can’t have rain the whole month long? We look forward to welcoming you to a little haven that is The Nest.
Making the most of the Summer
Setting up dinner for our guest this evening with candles around the fire pit. The new rose has really started to come into its own, climbing up the wall and guests are delighted with this private little sanctuary they can call their own.
Dine al fresco for breakfast or dinner
The new outside area we developed in early Spring is now really starting to come into its own with the flowers establishing themselves in the new containers, creating a wonderful haven for bees where the honey is so local, it is made by our next door neighbours! Guests delight in meeting ‘The Girls’ and enjoy their fresh eggs for breakfast. The chicks that we hatched in February are now fully integrated with the main flock and they should start to lay eggs any day now. They will be small at first but just as delicious!
Our new breakfast hamper
Our delicious breakfast hamper is packed full of goodies including fresh coffee, a choice of juices, fresh bread and pastries, creamy yoghurt and fresh fruit. A perfect way to start the day and now that the weather is getting warmer, enjoy breakfast outside in your own private guest area.
A cold glass of rose at the sun goes down
There is no better place to be than sitting outside in the sunshine, cold glass of rose in one hand and bowl of nibbles in the other! Relax and enjoy our new outside space at The Nest and take time to unwind and just be. As the sun starts to set and the Spring evening gets a little chilly, light the firepit and enjoy one of our delicious, homemade dinners. Perhaps the steak and ale pie with handcut chips, or maybe the baked chorizo orzo with cod and a salad on the side. You have all the time in the world to choose…
Fully open after lockdown
Very excited to be fully reopening today, 12th April, after a long lockdown and a difficult year last year. Opened the curtains this morning to find huge snow flakes coming down and settling everywhere but we are excited to be meeting our guests from Manchester who are here for the week and have ordered our delicious ‘loaded Brunning burger’ and locally cured gammon for supper tonight. Later in the week, our new barbecue stands ready together with the firepit in our new outside guest area and we are looking forward to showing them our hard work. Now, we wait for the sun to come out…
